BIG NOISE YOUTH SAMBA BAND

Calling all budding drummers!!

In Feb 2023 Big Noise received a grant from Gosport Cultural Consortium to form a Youth Samba band to participatre in Hi Street Fest which took place in July 2023. The project involved the young people attending weekly rehearsals at St Johns Church in Gosport where they learnt to play rhythms which have inspired many modern styles including Funk, Soul, Pop, Hip Hop and R&B. The youth samba band have also performed the main Big Noiuse band and we were keen to continue the group and to create a sustainable, accessible, and inclusive music activitiy for young people that offers a route of progression for them to develop their skills. We are delighted to have secured additional funding from Gosport Borough Council and The Hornpipe Trust which will allow us to continue rehearsals in September. Sessions are FREE and no experience is required just a willingness to get involved and maybe step out of your comfort zone... a little!. So f you are aged 13 to 18 and want to try something a little different we look forward to seeing you

Where? - St Johns Church every Monday 6 to 7:30 pm (apart from half term)

The session will be led by Big Noise music leader and co-founder Charlie Fletcher (PG Dip - World Music Studies), who is an experienced community musician and workshop leader who had been teaching Samba drumming for over 20 years. A veteran of thousands of music workshops Charlie has delivered to all ages and abilities and has a reputation as a dynamic leader who inspires and entertains audiences and students alike.
